Apple and Google Are THREATENING Elon Musk!
Since Elon Musk assumed control of the social media platform last month, he has made significant, though unclear, announcements about its future.
Musk wants to boost the company’s subscription income while allowing for more “free speech,” which in some cases appears to entail reactivating previously suspended accounts like the one belonging to former president Donald Trump, which Twitter reinstated last week and attracted a lot of negative attention.

A Brewing Conflict
The likelihood that Musk’s initiatives would violate Apple or Google’s app policies in a way that slows down the company or even results in its software being removed from app stores is one of the biggest threats to Musk’s vision for “Twitter 2.0.”
Obviously, there are brewing tensions. Just last week, Musk voiced his displeasure in a tweet about the app store fees that Google and Apple impose on businesses like Twitter.
“App store fees are obviously too high due to the iOS/Android duopoly,” Musk tweeted. In a subsequent post, he tagged the Department of Justice’s antitrust division, which is apparently looking into app store guidelines, saying, “It is a hidden 30% tax on the Internet.”
He is upset about the 15% to 30% cut that Apple and Google take from in-app sales since this could reduce Musk’s intentions to make $8 per month from Twitter Blue subscriptions, which would be a much-needed source of income.
Phil Schiller, the former chief of Apple’s marketing division who is currently in charge of the App Store, is believed to have deactivated his popular Twitter account over the weekend, which had hundreds of thousands of followers.
Since Musk became CEO, there are indications that Twitter has already witnessed an uptick in harmful content, jeopardizing the company’s apps. A swarm of internet trolls and bigots inundated the website with hate speech and racist slurs in October, not long after Musk was named “chief Twit.”
The trolls banded together on 4chan before launching their anti-Black and anti-Jewish slurs into Twitter. The nonprofit Network Contagion Research Institute claims that Twitter suspended a large number of the accounts.
In addition to creating havoc, Musk’s plan to charge for blue verification badges has also resulted in accounts pretending to be well-known brands and celebrities. As a result, some advertisers have shied away from the social network, including Eli Lilly after a fake verified tweet falsely claimed that insulin would be given away for free.
The app stores made a note.
Yoel Roth, the former head of trust and safety at Twitter, stated in last month’s New York Times article: “And as I departed the company, the calls from the app review teams had already begun.”
Revenue from fees and subscriptions
Apple and Twitter have been working together for a long time. Tweets were fully incorporated into Apple’s iOS operating system in 2011. Under Apple CEO Tim Cook’s account, tweets that serve as official corporate communications are frequently posted. Apple has promoted the release of new iPhones as well as its significant launch events on Twitter.
