Elon Musk Just UNVEILED A New Green Project!
Helping to fight the awful effects of climate change is not very simple but Tesla on the other hand is ready to take this matter into its own hands and deliver the world with another amazing product called the “megapacks”. The CEO Elon Musk has decided to accelerate its solar and energy storage business in 2022 and according to him the profits from the energy storage business will one day equal or exceed those from manufacturing cars and trucks.

Megapack has quickly emerged as the leading battery system for large utility-scale energy storage systems as It helped Tesla’s energy division accelerate storage deployment and with that the company has now built an impressive backlog of orders.
Tesla had been very secretive about the project up until now, but Elon Musk has finally revealed about its new energy storage project. Located in Angleton, Texas, south of Houston, it’s one of the biggest Tesla energy projects in the world and has a capacity of 100 MW/200 MWh. According to Tesla:
“In Angleton, Texas, an energy storage project was proposed to provide sustainable backup support to the grid. This resulted in the installation of 81 Tesla Megapacks, providing greater outage protection while reducing the community’s reliance on fossil fuels,”
Musk has previously admitted that Tesla had “shortchanged” the energy business in favor of expanding the company’s electric vehicle production in 2021 and as for 2022, Musk said that storage and solar production will grow this year. He stated:
“Our primary mission is to accelerate sustainable energy and we’re trying to stay true to that.”
Now, how is Tesla planning to do that? The answer lies in all new Megapack!
The Tesla Megapack is large-scale rechargeable lithium-ion battery stationary energy storage product, intended for use at battery storage power stations. Launched in 2019, each Megapack can store up to 3 megawatt-hours of electricity. Designed to be deployed by utility companies, Megapacks can be used to store energy generated by intermittent renewable power sources, such as solar and wind. The energy stored can be used by the grid as required, for example during periods of peak electricity demand.
Prior to the launch of the Megapack, Tesla used its 200 kilowatt-hour Powerpack energy storage product to meet the needs of utility companies with large-scale storage requirements. During 2015 and 2016, Tesla deployed a combined 300 MWh of Powerwall and Powerpack technology, including an 80 MWh deployment of Powerpacks at the Mira Loma substation in Southern California. Later In 2017, Tesla used Powerpacks to deploy 129 MWh of battery storage at the Hornsdale Power Reserve in South Australia. At the time, this was the biggest deployment of lithium-ion grid battery storage in the world.
Megapacks are currently manufactured at Giga Nevada and each Megapack comes with a 15-year “no defect” and “energy retention” warranty, according to Tesla. In addition, a 10 or 20 year “performance guarantee” is also available for an additional cost. Tesla states that it supplies Megapacks ready-assembled, including “battery modules, bi-directional inverters, a thermal management system, an AC main breaker and controls.
