Elon Musk Just UNVEILED SpaceX’s Starship Version 2!
Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, explains the improvements made to the newest iteration of the spaceship. Starship is threatening NASA’s lunar contractors, which are monitoring its growth with a mix of amazement and horror. And here’s why Musk’s biggest space gamble has his rivals so freaking out.

On Friday, Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, provided specifics of the alterations that were made to the company’s newest Starship model in comparison to its previous iteration.
“Version 2 of the ship holds more propellant, reduces dry mass, and improves reliability,” Musk tweeted on X, which was once known as Twitter. It was in response to a user who had asked questions about the newest and soon-to-be-released version of the launch vehicle.
Musk stated in a recent post that the Starship is designed to transport a large number of passengers over the course of tens of thousands of flights. “…thus needs to have an exceptionally high degree of reliability throughout time. Musk wrote that this would be the case.
Musk noted that having many engines increases the vehicle’s reliability in the event of a single engine failing. Musk continued, “Starship is aiming to be reliable with 33 engines on the Super Heavy booster, which is even more than the 30 engines on Soviet N1 first stage.”
The snapshot of the starships at Starbase that Musk released on Twitter with the comment “…the last of V1” is what sparked the interest in the new version. In 2020, SpaceX debuted the Starship V1.0 prototype to the public for the first time. Even though a number of various Starship prototypes have already been built, the V1 prototype was the first one to be created with an orbital test flight in mind.
Musk’s plan to land people on the moon and mars depends heavily on SpaceX’s Starship, which is a crucial component of the plan.
On November 18, the Starship was able to successfully complete stage separation during its second attempt at liftoff. However, not long after that, the rocket experienced an explosion, and shortly after that, the spacecraft lost contact with SpaceX after reaching an altitude of roughly 150 kilometers. In the end, it was not successful in accomplishing the primary objective of the test launch, which was to complete a round-trip journey to space and land in the Pacific Ocean.
Elon Musk, founder, CEO, and Chief Technology Officer of SpaceX, is looking ahead to future versions of the superheavy, rapidly reusable launcher with three times the lift capacity of NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) and Apollo-era Saturn V Moon rockets as SpaceX prepares for the third flight test (IFT-3) of the Starship-Super Heavy launch system.
Musk did not go into a lot of detail during a presentation he gave at the annual International Astronautical Congress on October 5 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
