Elon Musk REVEALS A New Rocket Engine That Will SHOCK Everyone

The answer is influenced by a number of variables, including the relative positions of Earth and Mars and the technology available to transport people there. The Red Planet would be reached in around nine months, according to NASA. Overall, if you wanted to travel to Mars and back, it would take you around 21 months since you would have to wait three months on Mars to ensure that Earth and Mars were in the right location for your return journey.

And using Starship, it would take about 6 months, according to Musk. Although, according to NASA, this could be shortened to just 45 days using a nuclear-powered engine. However, recently, Musk just revealed a new rocket engine that will shorten this.

And that we will find out in todays episode! So, stay tuned!

Using current technology, we check out the length of a voyage to Mars and look at some of the variables that could alter the journey’s duration.
Before we get to the engine technologies, let’s check first how far away is Mars from the Earth?

We must first establish the distance between the two planets in order to calculate how long it will take to reach Mars.

Venus is closer to Earth than Mars, which is the fourth planet from the sun. But as they circle the sun, the distance between Earth and Mars is continually shifting.

The theoretical point at which Earth and Mars would be closest to one another would be when Mars is perihelion, or closest to the sun, and Earth is aphelion, or farthest from the sun. The planets would be only 33.9 million miles (or 54.6 million kilometers) apart as a result. This, however, has never occurred in the course of history. The two planets made their closest known encounter in 2003, when they were just 34.8 million miles (56 million kilometers) away.

When the two planets are on opposite sides of the star and are both located at respective distances from the sun, they are the furthest apart. They might be 401 million kilometers (250 million miles) distant at this stage.

Earth and Mars are separated by an average of 140 million miles (225 million kilometers).

The speed of light is roughly 186,282 miles per second (299,792 kilometers per second). This means that it would take the following amount of time for a light to travel from Mars to Earth (or the other way around):

The shortest distance traveled was 182 seconds, or 3.03 minutes.
The closest approach time was 187 seconds (3.11 minutes).
The longest approach time was 1,342 seconds (22.4 minutes).
751 seconds, or slightly more than 12.5 minutes, on average

The NASA Parker Solar Probe is currently the fastest spacecraft, breaking its own speed records as it approaches the sun. The Parker Solar Probe, during its tenth close flyby of our star on November 21, 2021, clocked a high speed of 101 miles (163 kilometers) per second, or an astounding 364,621 mph (586,000 kph).
