There is a race for space, and it isn’t just between nations; the top two billionaires in the world have been at battle with one another for more than 15 years. SpaceX is owned by Elon Musk, and Blue Origin is operated by Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos. And both have been competing to send people as far as they can go into space. But it turns out that other billionaires are also vying for the common line, and it appears that they are soon to be surpassed by another group of men. Where in all of this rocketry is NASA? With a current net worth of $114 billion, Jeff Bezos is the fifth richest person in the world. He is the founder and CEO of Amazon as well as the aerospace business Blue Origin, which aims to transport people to the moon. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, The Boring Company, and Twitter, is the second-wealthiest person in the world with a net worth of $169 billion. However, throughout the years, their bitter competition has led to some nasty name-calling and Twitter fights. However, Musk is currently much ahead of Bezos. However, Jeff Bezos recently declared that he will soon launch his new Shepard rocket to the edge of space to demonstrate that space tourism is entirely safe.
Elon Musk, on the other hand, hasn’t yet made any firm plans to travel to space. However, he indicated interest in traveling with Japanese billionaire Yusaku Mezawa on his tour around the moon in the brand-new, super-heavy rocket spaceship that will take off in 2023. Also stated by Musk is his desire to settle down on Mars and spend the rest of his days there. But is Bezos superior to Musk? How did this guys’ rivalry begin, by the way? In 2004, neither Blue Origin nor SpaceX had yet conducted a launch, and both were still in their infancy.
But Bezos and Musk had already met to talk about their plans for reusable rockets. Let’s just say that things didn’t work out too well. Musk claimed that he tried to offer Bezos some advice, but that Bezos generally disregarded him. From that point forward, Musk and Bezos remained private. However, the conflict flared up once more in 2013 when both businesses attempted to rent NASA’s same launch pad. In order to stop SpaceX from using the NASA launch pad, Blue Origin officially protested to the government. SpaceX wanted exclusive use of the site.
It should be turned into a commercial spaceport for all launch companies, according to Bezos. Musk referred to this as a false blocking strategy and took a shot at Blue Origin, claiming that despite spending more than ten years on the project, the company hasn’t succeeded in building a trustworthy orbital spacecraft. However, Musk stated that SpaceX would gladly meet their needs if Blue Origin managed to construct a vehicle accredited to NASA’s human rating standards that can dock with the space station. However, Musk later remarked, “Honestly, I think we’re more likely to find unicorns dancing in the flame duct.”
