Elon Musk was born on June 28, 1971 in Pretoria, South Africa.
At the age of ten, Elon received his first computer as a gift and learned to program on it. At the age of 12, he sold his first program, a video game, for $500.
After graduating from school in South Africa, Elon Musk decides to leave for Canada, contrary to the opinion of his parents. For the first time, he had money for an independent life – he had already successfully invested in pharmaceuticals at that time.
Musk founded Zip2 in 1995 with his brother. Then Zip2 was acquired by Compaq for $308 million. Elon received 7% of the $22 million sale.
After the sale of the first company, Elon Musk decides to master electronic payments and creates his own startup X.com.
This merger subsequently leads to the emergence of the now famous payment system – PayPal. In 2002, the popular service buys eBay for $1.5 billion. Elon received $180 million from this deal.
In 2004, Elon, cashing in from the PayPal sale, invests $70 million in the Tesla Motors project.
The main success was the Model S luxury sedan with a battery charge of 426 km, striking design and unique speed characteristics (acceleration to 96 km/h in 3.9 s).
When Elon Musk’s financial fortune increased, he decided to start making this dream come true. SpaceX became his brainchild in this area.
For Elon Musk, all the current achievements of SpaceX are just preparation for the realization of the main dream – an expedition to Mars.
In 2022, Elon Musk became the richest person on the planet.
