Many people still have so many doubts whether its possible to live on mars or not but there is one person who is completely certain that it can be done, and that person is the one and only Elon Musk, SpaceX’s CEO. Elon Musk says that a city on Mars will help save mankind because if we stay on earth then in a few years the planet will be destroyed, erasing mankind with it and all he is trying to do is making life multi-plantery and preserving human nature and making life better for the future generations.
SpaceX will fly its first rocket in the beginning of 2022, and we will witness how much progress has Elon Musk made with his company SpaceX. And what more can we expect from him. Well, the first flight is going to be very safe, and no humans will be a part of it only cargo will be sent to space. If the first mission is successful, then Musk will plan a second mission which will take more cargo along with itself and there will be crew as well.
Although Musk has admitted that he would probably be dead before this whole colonization actually happens, he would like to see some starships land on the red planet while he is still alive:
“I’ll probably be long dead before Mars becomes self-sustaining,” Musk told Ars Technical. “But I’d like to at least be around to see a bunch of ships land on Mars.”
Now, let’s talk about what would it be like living on another planet!
Musk has been going on about the life on mars for as long as we can remember, and he even said that there will be a lot of employment opportunities for people there as he tweeted:
“Yes. There will be a lot of jobs on Mars”
Musk also said that there will be direct democracy on Mars, meaning that colonists will be able to make their own decisions. Furthermore, he also believes that there should be fewer rules and regulations on mars than here on earth. So, now you must be wondering how would the residents get their food on mars? Well, we are getting to that so, make sure to stick with us.
We do not have much details on it yet but the solar powered hydroponic farms would be used to grow food and that sounds pretty amazing. According to SpaceX’s website, Musk aims to send a SpaceX rocket to mars with only cargo by 2022, a follow up mission carrying more cargo and crew is planned for 2024. According to company, a typical mars mission would carry approximately 100 passengers.
Talking about the amazing Starship rocket chosen for the mars mission, SpaceX’s largest bfr rocket called monster rocket was given the name of Starship. As a starship is said to be the largest spacecraft ever built and to make that possible there are manufacturing lines that are designed to build two starships per week and each starship can cost up to 5 million dollars. Elon Musk says that building a production line is one thousand times harder than manufacturing a rocket itself and for mass production of the rockets a production line is necessary.
