The first 4C quick charging LFP battery, Shenxing, was introduced by CATL on August 16 and has a range of more than 700 km on a single full charge. Shenxing can provide 400 kilometres of driving range in just 10 minutes. Shenxing ushers in a new era of electric vehicle superfast charging and is projected to significantly reduce fast charging anxiety for EV consumers.

The industry has achieved a long driving range for EVs due to advancements in battery technology and their overall performance, which have significantly improved. Right now, consumer resistance to switching to EVs is being mostly attributed to fast charging concerns. By concentrating on the very nature of electrochemistry, CATL keeps innovating in material, electrochemistry, and system structure on a comprehensive level, attaining speedy charging, high energy density, and a high level of safety at the same time in a unique method. Innovating at the forefront of the battery business, Shenxing goes beyond the limits of LFP chemistry performance.

And this is done thru the advancement of LFP battery.

Increasing the rate of lithium ion extraction. Shenxing uses the fully nano-crystallized LFP cathode material and super electronic network cathode technology to build a super electronic network that makes it easier to extract lithium ions and respond quickly to charging signals.

Boosting the intercalation rate of lithium ions. In order to improve the attributes of graphite surfaces, CATL’s newest second-generation rapid ion ring technology is applied. This results in more intercalation channels and a shorter intercalation distance for lithium ions, which creates an expressway for current conduction. In order to achieve the ideal balance between fast charging and extended range, a multi-gradient layered electrode design has also been created.

Movement of lithium-ion is more difficult to resist. In order to boost conductivity, CATL has created a brand-new superconducting electrolyte recipe that successfully reduces the viscosity of the electrolyte. In order to lower the resistance of lithium-ion movement, CATL has also improved the incredibly thin SEI film.

Lithium ions are transmitted at a higher rate thanks to CATL’s reduction of their transmission resistance at high porosity and shortening of their average transmission distance in terms of separator.
Next is boosting efficiency, range, and safety across the board for charging.

Through structure innovation and the use of clever algorithms, Shenxing manages to achieve 4C superfast charging as well as a long driving range, fast charging over a wide variety of temperatures, and a high degree of safety.
